The Advocate for Aging Award, presented by PBS’ Next Avenue in partnership with the American Society on Aging, recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to enhancing the lives of older adults.

Since its inception in 2015, the award has celebrated over 200 global leaders, including Michael J Fox, Governor Gavin Newsom, US Senator Susan Collins, Professor Laura Carstensen, and Nobel Laureate Professor Elizabeth Blackburn who is also President of the Salk Institute.

Dr Ng was selected for his pioneering work in developing AI methods to analyse narratives around ageing spanning two centuries, and for his research into innovative policy solutions that unlock the economic potential of ageing populations.

Said Dr Ng: "My vision is to unleash a third demographic dividend for the world where ageing is associated with a time of adventure, happiness and giving back. To reap the dividend tomorrow, we need to create an opportunity economy for older adults today. Our work on reframing ageing, silver entrepreneurship and preventive health are policy investments to catalyse this opportunity economy.”
