The Relative Effects of AI on Democracies

The conventional view of AI’s impact on democracies is largely negative, emphasizing how AI can spread disinformation, manipulate public opinion, and erode trust in democratic institutions. I argue and show that the impact of AI on democracies is not predetermined; it varies depending on the electoral system and how resilient it is to manipulation.
