CAG Lecture

Is There a Chinese Way of War and Peace?

The rise of China and the extended tenure of Xi Jinping have prompted considerable concern about the elevated prospects for military conflict in Asia. For decades the speaker has studied Chinese security and foreign policy dynamics to assess the People’s Republic of China’s style of statecraft, propensity for war, and conceptions of peace. This research suggests that Beijing possesses a discernible enduring approach to war and peace that predates Xi Jinping with significant implications for Asia and the wider world.
