COVID-19 has had far-reaching effects throughout the world. In Singapore, the crisis brought the economy to a near standstill as the country embarked on almost two months of “circuit breaker” measures before resuming activities in phases from June 2020.
The Emerging Stronger Taskforce (EST) was formed to guide Singapore’s economic recovery beyond the pandemic’s immediate challenges by working closely with stakeholders across industries to provide recommendations for long-term transformation to the Future Economy Council. It will focus on identifying systemic shifts that have arisen; assessing the resultant challenges and opportunities; and recommending how Singapore might refresh, reimagine, or reset its strategies, to build resilience and dynamism into its economy.
Join Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development, Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration and Co-Chair of the Emerging Stronger Taskforce, in this breakfast discussion on preparing Singapore for a post-COVID-19 world. The session will be chaired by Mr Christopher Gee, Senior Research Fellow and Head, Governance and Economy at IPS.
