The Institute of Policy Studies’ (IPS) is organising a special forum on the reforms to the Elected Presidency System.
The speakers at the Forum will provide views and analysis of the recently released report by the Constitutional Commission on the Elected President and the government’s White Paper in response to it.
Participants from different sectors in Singapore are invited to discuss the proposed revisions to the private sector eligibility criteria for private sector candidates; the hiatus-triggered reserved elections as a means to ensure full ethnic representation; the proposed expansion of the role of the Council of Presidential Advisors as well as the entrenchment of the provisions for the system in the Constitution.
The second panel will feature an open discussion with the Minister for Law and Home Affairs, Mr K Shanmugam.
