The Institute of Policy Studies will be organising a forum and discussion on the second iteration of the Study on Parents and Schooling.
At the forum, you will hear firsthand about the latest findings from a study of parents’ attitudes towards education in Singapore, including how parents’ aspirations, attitudes and behaviours have evolved since IPS’ 2016 study of parents’ perceptions of the Singapore primary school system. The findings examine, among other issues, what parents value in education, how they approach school choice, tuition and enrichment, the pressures they experience and their views on the PSLE and Singapore’s education system.
The presentation of findings will be followed by a panel discussion featuring speakers from different fields, who will share their perspectives on parents’ aspirations, educational choices and concerns, and what these may mean for the Singapore’s education system.
Participants will also take part in facilitated table discussion, where they will have the opportunity to reflect and exchange perspectives on the findings.
Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education, will be attending the forum as the Guest-of-Honour and delivering the closing remarks.
