The (Senior) Business Development Manager will be working as part of the team at Enterprise Singapore’s Mumbai office.
The (Senior) Business Development Manager will support the Regional Directors (RDs) in the Mumbai office in helping Singapore-based companies enter and do business in India, as well as build partnerships that improve the business environment in Singapore. The (Senior) Business Development Manager will also help the RDs to promote and deepen bilateral trade ties between Singapore and India.
The (Senior) Business Development Manager is expected to perform the following functions and engagements independently and in support of the Regional Directors:
- Develop business leads and facilitate business opportunities for Singapore companies in various industry sectors in India;
- Work with RDs to develop and execute the engagement strategies and approaches with key conglomerates, MNCs and government bodies in the region, to expand the scope of collaboration and partnerships;
- Work with RDs to develop and manage high-impact initiatives that can achieve scalability and sustainability in assisting more Singapore companies to enter and expand into India;
- Plan, organise and execute business delegation visits and meetings for Singapore companies doing business in India;
- Assess market information to develop new insights and uncover emerging trends from meetings with India-based companies, government agencies (Federal, State and Local), and trade/industry associations;
- Prepare state, industry and company reports on a timely basis for internal reporting, and to strengthen Singapore companies’ understanding of the Indian markets;
- You should also be prepared to travel to other states including Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha, as well as other cities in Maharashtra for business meetings and stakeholder engagements if required
Desired Skills and Experience
You should have relevant 5 to 10 years of business development and project management experience within the private or public sector, preferably in the field of trade and investment. Candidates with relevant experience in infrastructure and sustainability, technology and innovation, and/or healthcare and biomedical sectors will be preferred. Experience working overseas, with foreign government, and/or multinational organisations is an advantage. Broad knowledge of Singapore and India’s bilateral engagements and industry sectors is ideal.
You should possess strong analytical reasoning, be resourceful and be able to drive projects independently. You should possess good interpersonal skills and have experience in client and external stakeholders’ relationship management. Good administrative and IT skills (Microsoft Office suite) is a must. You should be a confident presenter who is proficient in written and oral English communications skills, and be able to communicate in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
