Philipp is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
His research lies at the intersection of international and environmental economics and explores how production, transport and ownership networks shape the formation of global supply chains, contribute to CO2 emissions and alter the spatial distribution of economic activity.
Designing policies which account for the complex interaction between the economy and the environment is at the core of Philipp’s work. His teaching at LKYSPP reflects these interests and aims to equip students with a quantitative and economic toolkit to tackle these challenges head-on.
His perspective on public policy is shaped by experiences in the public sector (UN and National Bank of Belgium), the private sector (S&P Global) and research stays in both the United States (Georgetown University) and China (Fudan and Tongji University). He obtained his PhD in Economics from KU Leuven in 2025.
