Since August 2012, the Lee Kuan Yew School has been working closely with Nazarbayev University (NU) – the leading education institution in Kazakhstan. As part of the long-term strategic partnership, LKY School has been engaged to build NU’s Graduate School of Public Policy (NUGSPP). The NU, named after President Nazarbayev, recruited its first student cohort for undergraduate and graduate degrees in September 2013.

In June 2015, Nazarbayev University hosted annual Partners’ Meeting and the First Graduation Ceremony throughout the five schools out of the six established. They are Graduate School of Public Policy, Graduate School of Business, School of Education, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Engineering, and School of Science and Technology. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the graduation ceremony and awarded honours diplomas to the top students. Prior to that, the LKY School hosted the First Valedictory Dinner for the Master in Public Policy Class of NUGSPP.

The LKY School is the only Asian University to collaborate with NU. The other international partners include University College London, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Pittsburgh, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and University of Cambridge.

“The strategic partnerships that Nazarbayev University has forged give its students the benefits of a global education, and the opportunity to learn at some of world’s leading universities. Such international exposure is not only beneficial to the students individually, but is also essential for Kazakhstan’s continued success in an increasingly globalized world,” – said Prof. Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the LKY School, for the NU press release to be published internationally.

The LKY School also has the opportunity to have an official meeting with the Secretary of State, Gulshara Abdykalikova, during our stay in Astana
