Climate & Sustainability Internship with UNDG Global Centre Singapore: Patricia Nicole N. Mejia

29 Jul 2026

Like many international relations students, I dreamed of working at the UN. My internship at the UNDP Global Centre gave me the opportunity to do just that while also working at the intersection of research and policy.

As a Climate and Sustainability Intern, I supported the development of a regional knowledge product with Singapore's MSE on circularity. Beyond research, I met with stakeholders across government, academia, and industry, highlighting how partnerships shape sustainable development. I also supported the planning and delivery of high-level events, including emceeing the Centre’s session at the World Cities Summit 2026.

What I valued most about my internship was the opportunity to from work with a bird’s-eye view. Beyond the technical work, I gained insight into the importance of collaboration across regions, countries, and sectors.

Working with such a passionate team also brought my learnings from LKYSPP to life, demonstrating how theory can inform practical solutions to real-world challenges.
