As Singapore marks 60 years of independence, the ideals of multiculturalism, meritocracy and harmony remain central to our national identity. Encouragingly, recent findings from the IPS- OnePeople.sg Indicators of Racial and Religious Harmony 2024 point to rising social trust and a growing appreciation of diversity. However, challenges such as shrinking social circles, racial discrimination in specific settings and differing perceptions across generations and communities continue to prompt important conversations to strengthen cohesion and build a more inclusive future.
Against this backdrop, the OnePeople.sg-IPS Community Leaders’ Conference 2025, themed “Social Cohesion — The Next Lap,” will examine the evolving landscape of race and religious relations in Singapore. It seeks to unpack key trends, spotlight emerging issues and explore inclusive strategies to strengthen our social fabric in an increasingly diverse society.
The conference will feature a presentation of national trends, a panel discussion on challenges and opportunities for social cohesion and a closing dialogue with Guest-of-Honour, Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development.
