Access to affordable energy is critical to ASEAN’s development agenda and the region’s lack of infrastructure remains one of the key bottlenecks on its path. The region has also committed to achieving this growth sustainably, to do so an energy transition for a region reliant on fossil fuels is necessary. This webinar seeks to examine the landscape of ASEAN’s energy transition efforts by exploring the web of policies that ASEAN and its member states have enacted to achieve an energy transition and whether these efforts have translated into tangible progress.
This webinar will feature presentations by ACI researchers, regional experts and major industry players. ACI will present a close examination of the alignment between ASEAN regional level policies and the national policies of the individual member states shedding light on the progress towards meeting regional energy transition targets. Complementing the policy discussion is an empirical study that uses generative AI to analyse ASEAN's strategic positioning within the intricate global supply chains, including those for electric vehicles and solar panels. Our guest speakers will discuss the trends in renewable technologies supporting ASEAN’s energy transition and detail the political economy of the energy transition in ASEAN and the latest in technological developments.
