The Centre on Asia and Globalisation, in conjunction with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, organised a workshop on “Peace and Security in Southern Asia” at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on 9-10 January 2018. Sixteen academics and former practitioners from China, India, Pakistan, the United States, and the United Kingdom participated in this workshop. On the Carnegie side, the project was led by Senior Fellow Toby Dalton and Vice President of Research Studies George Perkovich.
Participants discussed the possibility of limited war under the shadow of nuclear weapons in Southern Asia (India-Pakistan-China). They also shared their insights on the comparative cases of North Korea and Estonia and debated what lessons could be learnt regarding the potential for severe conflict in Southern Asia.
