Artificial intelligence is transforming how governments, organisations and economies operate. Yet beyond the excitement surrounding AI lies a more important question: Are leaders and institutions ready to turn its potential into meaningful impact?
This Asia Thinker Series brings together perspectives from public policy, economic transformation and technology to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI beyond the hype. The conversation will examine where AI can create real value, why transformation efforts often struggle to move beyond experimentation, and whether the greatest barriers lie in technology or in leadership, organisational culture and institutional capacity.
As AI reshapes jobs, skills and decision-making, the discussion will consider what it means to be an AI-ready organisation and leader. What capabilities will governments, organisations and the workforce need to navigate this transformation, and could AI literacy eventually become as essential to leadership as financial literacy?
Through a moderated fireside conversation, the session will bring together policy, economic and technology perspectives to explore not only what AI can do, but what it takes for governments and organisational leaders to harness it effectively, responsibly and with meaningful impact.
Following the fireside chat, representatives from three NUS schools — the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), NUS Institute of Systems Science (NUS-ISS), and NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE) — will share more about their respective programmes and learning opportunities.
