Gift Recognition & Benefits

Most donations are tax-deductible and will immediately double in value through dollar-for-dollar government matching. Donors will also be given appropriate recognition for their contributions.

Tax Benefits
Tax Benefits

From 1 January 2011, all donors are required to provide their tax reference number (e.g. NRIC/FIN/UEN) when they make a gift to the University in order to be given tax deductions on the gift. Tax deductions for the gift will be automatically reflected in the donors' tax assessments based on the information from the University. If the tax deduction for the gift is more than your taxable income for the year, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) allows you to carry forward the unutilised deduction for a maximum of five years.

Singapore tax residents will receive a 250 percent tax deduction for donations made from 2016 to 2023
Singapore tax residents will receive a 250 percent tax deduction for donations made from 2016 to 2026

To continue encouraging Singaporeans to give back to the community and to provide strong support for the charity sector, DPM and Minister for Finance has announced in Budget 2023 that the 250% tax deduction for qualifying donations will be extended for another three years till 31 December 2026.

Donors based in the United States can support NUS through a contribution to the “National University of Singapore US Fund” at Myriad USA, a US public charity under the purview of Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.

If you are a US tax resident, your contribution to the Fund may be eligible for a US income tax deduction to the amount allowed by US tax law. In accordance with US tax law, Myriad USA retains complete control and discretion over amounts contributed to the Fund.

To make a gift via credit card or online payments, you may do so via Myriad USA’s secure online platform here. Check the ‘Add a note for National University of Singapore’ box and indicate the gift purpose / fund name that you wish to support e.g. LKYSPP / Dean’s Fund.

To make a gift via other modes of payment, contact us for more information.

If you are not a Singapore tax resident, you are encouraged to investigate your individual country's tax exemption laws to determine whether you qualify for tax exemption.
