The Institute for Environment & Sustainability (IES) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to the establishment of CALM (Climate and Low-carbon Modelling) — a Singapore-focused climate-policy modelling laboratory.
CALM aims to develop a Singapore-calibrated Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model, grounded in a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM), that integrates:
• Mitigation policy (e.g., carbon pricing, energy transition)
• Physical climate damages and adaptation
• Transition risks (e.g., border carbon measures)
• Micro–macro distributional linkages
The successful candidate will play a central role in building and extending the CGE modelling platform and contributing to policy-relevant research for Singapore and Southeast Asia. All candidates should have a strong willingness to contribute to IES’s mission and to engage with new topics and research tools.
Responsibilities:
- Construct and balance a Singapore Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) using national accounts, input-output tables, fiscal data, energy balances, and trade statistics
- Develop and calibrate a core CGE model
- Link household survey data to representative household groups for distributional analysis
- Design and simulate policy scenarios (carbon price trajectories, revenue recycling, net-zero pathways, adaptation portfolios)
- Engage with policymakers in scenario co-design and technical discussions
- Publish research outputs in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to technical reports and policy briefs
- Support external grant applications and reporting
- Present findings at academic and policy forums
