THE ROLE

APCO Worldwide APCO is a global advisory and advocacy firm - is seeking an internship student in Singapore who interface with all levels of staff regarding project tasks.

APCO’s internship program seeks to provide students or new graduates with a valuable and substantive work experience and strives to involve the interns in all aspects of the company. An intern is encouraged to attend staff and brainstorm meetings and will also potentially have the opportunity to attend client meetings. Interns are treated as professional staff and play a key role on client service teams. They typically focus on one of APCO's diverse client service groups while also contributing to a wide range of project work in other areas.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across disciplines, including corporate communication, crisis and issues, corporate social responsibility, media relations and stakeholder engagement, and digital/social media. And you could work with clients in food and consumer products, healthcare, tech, financial, energy, education and non-profit sectors.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern is responsible for supporting assigned staff to support projects that aims to enhance an organization's reputation and policy environment, influence decision-making, and ensure effective communication with various audiences.

 Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Research with respect to:
    • Policy and issues analysis
    • Corporate and industry analysis
    • Public perceptions
    • Media, markets and stakeholders
  • Media and issues monitoring 
  • Translation (written Vietnamese to English and vice versa)
  • Writing and developing briefing books, reports and white papers
  • Work with team to improve the design of presentations, proposal materials or deliverables
  • Media communications and event operation support
  • Active participation in brainstorming and strategy sessions
  • Providing administrative assistance to projects on a limited basis
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in progress, preferably in international relations, political science, communications, public relations, or related fields
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats in English
  • Relevant professional or internship experience highly desirable.
  • Core skill:
  • An understanding of regional economics and politics
  • Excellent written and communications skills 
  • Ability to organize and multi–task on project requests 
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as to work independently 
  • Self-motivated 
  • Professional demeanour
