The Foundation’s International Trade Research program works to advance thought leadership on global trade issues. The Foundation’s mission includes participating in the global trade dialogue to influence policymaking, and commissioning the development and analysis of policy solutions to improve the sustainability of global trade.

The successful candidate will support the program in commissioning and developing the research pipeline, working with trade policy experts from around the world, and in outreach activities that the Foundation undertakes to engage its worldwide audience. Candidates with a grounding in macroeconomics, trade, and international relations, would have an advantage, but a background in other, broader, and/or allied disciplines would not be ruled out.

Successful candidates in the past have shown well-rounded talents, able and eager to work on writing and editing, as well as network externally with business, multilateral, and policy circles in Singapore and elsewhere. The role requires a dedication to meeting deadlines, swift and competent English-language writing abilities, and an appetite for engaging with a diverse and highly international slate of partners.

Competence in languages besides English is a plus, but not a necessity. The candidate would be skilled at social media contributions, competence with the basic suite of Microsoft Office software, and a basic level of project management capabilities.

The Foundation’s work crosses sectors. Our mission in global trade means engaging with issues including international diplomacy, defense and security, human capital and immigration issues, gender equality, environmental sustainability, education, data and technology, and much more. We work with organizations including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, and Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority, among many others. We have five Research Fellows based in three continents, and work with dozens more contributors around the world.

The candidate will also have the opportunity to have her or his original essays on trade-related issues published on our platform, subject to the approval of the program director.

You will principally support the program’s Research Manager to ensure effective outcomes across the following:
