Policy Analysis Exercise

What is the Policy Analysis Exercise?

The Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) is a public policy study completed as a capstone module of the school’s Master in Public Policy (MPP) programme. For prospective clients, this is a unique opportunity to have master’s degree candidates conduct an independent and in-depth study into particularly problematic policy issues of interest to the client organisation, which the organisation may not have time or resources to address itself.

In the PAE, students apply the knowledge and skills that they have learnt in the MPP programme to define and analyse policy issues, evaluate existing programmes, formulate and assess policy options and develop specific, actionable recommendations for the client organisation. These recommendations are then presented in a written report and at an annual PAE conference in March, to which the client will be invited.
