The education landscape in Singapore is changing. Technology has redesigned the learning experience, breaking down the confines of the traditional classroom setting, and offering greater access to knowledge and customisation of one’s learning journey. Studying is also no longer limited to the first 20-odd years of a person’s life: “lifelong learning” has become the rallying cry in the efforts to prepare the young for the future and ensure that Singapore’s current workforce does not become obsolete in the face of an ever-changing world. Educators too need to advance beyond simply teaching traditional subjects such as language or science and also inculcate soft skills like critical thinking.
