About the Programme

Women in Leadership: Advancing Together is a flagship programme designed to empower and inspire women leaders to thrive in their roles and drive positive change in their organisation and community.

This platform aims to enable women in leadership to connect, learn from each other, and advance together as leaders, with the goal of promoting and supporting women’s leadership as we champion change for the 21st century.

About Keynote Speaker

As Singapore’s first female President and a trailblazer for future women leaders, Madam Halimah Yacob will share her insights on the future of women’s leadership and empowerment during this dialogue.

Mdm Halimah Yacob is the Chancellor of the Singapore University of Social Sciences. Previously, she served as the eighth, and first female, President of Singapore from 2017 to 2023. She was also the first female Speaker of Parliament. Throughout her career, she’s also made an impact in the following leadership capacities:

  • National Trades Union Congress (1978 to 2011): NTUC Deputy Secretary General, Director of the Legal Services Department, Director of the Women’s Development Secretariat, Director of the Singapore Institute of Labour Studies (now renamed as the Ong Teng Cheong Institute of Labour Studies) and Executive Secretary of the United Workers of Electrical and Electronic Industries
  • First Singaporean to represent the nation on the Governing Body of the Geneva-based International Labour Organisation: formulating labour standards and strengthening enforcement for workers worldwide
  • Appointed Minister of State for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports

Apart from her official appointments, Mdm Halimah also served as patrons to some charitable and welfare organisations representing disadvantaged women, the elderly, and those with mental health issues.
