Complex geopolitical, environmental and societal issues, as well as economic disruptions, have pushed today’s leaders to a new inflection point in policymaking. In a landscape as complex as this, those who need to lead change need to evolve their insights and skills with the times.
The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy’s Senior Management Programme (SMP) is a three-week intensive learning experience that equips senior leaders with the skills and sensibilities to create opportunities and be change agents in the face of complexity and ambiguity.
The learning format includes interactive and foundational sessions that deep dive into complex adaptive systems such as societies, economies, and institutions. The programme also highlights an immersive week-long overseas study trip to Zurich, Switzerland that will allow participants to gain first-hand insights into policy and business best practices that will hone their ability to design innovative and resilient policies.
“We live in times of unprecedented changes and challenges, generation gap, climate change, resource and time constraints, stakeholder demands, and many others. All of us, public, private, or individuals, are journeying together in these turbulent times. For those of us in the public sector, it is even more important to be clear on our common mission and vision, given the impact of our work on citizens, communities, and our country. The Senior Management Programme at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy reminded me that at all levels, individuals, teams, and groups have to be in unison to bring the best out of each other and the best to those whom we serve.”
“The programme deepened my self-awareness as a leader and reaffirmed my conviction to serve with empathy in the public service. Few programmes combine policy depth and hands-on innovation while holding space for deep reflection. It's like the Swiss Army knife for leadership courses. The Senior Management Programme wasn't just about learning; it was also about unlearning. I came for policy frameworks but left with a new leadership compass, one that balances innovation with inclusion, global insights with local action, and confidence with humility.”
“The course didn't just teach us how to make decisions from a big-picture view, but also used real examples to show us how to keep our organisation strong and able to get things done in complex and changing situations. I also gained a lot from my peers from different sectors of the Singapore Government. Hearing about their challenges and solutions gave me fresh ideas and new ways of thinking.”
