Professional Certificate in Global Politics and International Relations (PCIR)

The three short courses can be taken independently and in any sequence. Completion of all three courses is required only if you are working towards the Professional Certificate.

This course provides a broad introduction to international relations, examining the roles of states and various global actors such as organizations, multinational corporations, and terrorist networks. Students will learn major theories and concepts to understand and address complex global challenges like health, human trafficking, climate change, terrorism, and cybersecurity in our interconnected world.

Introduction to Policymaking equips policy officers and managers with the essentials of public policy. The course covers concepts, methodologies, and tools for formulating and executing impactful policies. It teaches how to identify and address social, economic, and political challenges, and explores various approaches to interrelated policy issues. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the policymaking process and its challenges.

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Instructions

There will be an assessment to be completed at the end of the course.

> 20 Hours

You can expect to spend approximately 20 hours per week, depending on the course you are attending under PCIR or PCPPA.

Online Lessons

Attendance for all live Zoom sessions is compulsory. In order to complete the course, you are required to watch all pre-recorded videos (if applicable), attend at least 80% of the online sessions, and complete all required assessments and evaluations.

Certification

At the end of each course, you will be conferred a Certificate of Completion. Upon completion of all 3 PCIR or PCPPA courses, you will be conferred a Professional Certificate.

FAQ

Can I use both SkillsFuture Credit and the Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy for the same course?

Yes, you may use your SkillsFuture Credit to offset the remaining course fees after MCES (up to 90% subsidy of programme fee).

Am I required to complete all three courses?

No, you may choose to enrol in individual courses based on your learning needs and availability. However, if you are working towards the Professional Certificate, you will be required to complete all three courses under PCIR or PCPPA.
