Full-time Research Assistant (Development Economics)

The Project

Project Title: Household Finance in China and India

This project seeks to understand the financial portfolios of households in less developed countries and the dynamics of the compositions of these portfolios over time. We’d also like to understand how the poor manage their finances and inequality rising through the channels of household finance management.

The Position

The full time research assistant position will be for 1 year, with the possibility of renewing for a 2nd year at the end of the first contract term. The position is mainly research focused. There will be a small portion of administrative work. Responsibilities of the full time research assistant include:

  • Collect and manage primary and/or secondary data for the projects
  • Perform data analyses
  • Perform literature review and write research briefings
  • Serve as liaison for field researchers in India and China

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or above in economics or other social sciences
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Good data management and data analyses skills
  • Proficiency in statistical software, e.g. STATA
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, command of Chinese is an advantage
  • Detail oriented and good communication skills
