LKY School Annual Flagship Senior Management Programme 2015

EE-clasroomThe Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKY School) welcomed 22 senior leaders from Australia, China, Hong Kong and Singapore to its 10th annual Senior Management Programme (SMP).

Participants benefitted from a rigorous study of public policies, organisational change, public leadership and management, as well as frameworks and tools for multi-stakeholder governance. As part of the four week programme, participants interacted with our outstanding faculty, led by Prof. Zeger van der Wal and Prof. Dodo Thampapillai, and other senior faculty members and practitioners from diverse backgrounds such as Peter Ho, Lam Chuan Leong, Lim Siong Guan, Parag Khanna and Prof. Roger Lehman, Geoff Mulgan, among many others.

SMP-IMEX2015The Integrated Management Exercise (IMEX), an innovative and distinctive overseas learning component of the SMP, offers a unique opportunity for participants to tackle a multi-lateral development challenge in a real-life setting in Asia. The 2015 IMEX, guided by Dr. Naomi Aoki, took participants to Tokyo and Rikuzentakata City, Japan, where they observed and applied their skills and knowledge towards strengthening multi-level governance processes, with special emphasis on post-disaster management.

To mark the 10th year milestone, the LKY School also invited SMP alumni from 2006 – 2014, professors and friends of SMP to get together to reminisce memorable experiences and share their stories of success. Participants had the opportunity to network with other high-level peers from across the globe.

“The self-reflection which arises from lively interactions with interesting classmates from diverse backgrounds, outstanding expert lecturers, and the blend of concepts, adaptable models and real-life experience, is where the value of this programme lies.”
Mr. Peter Tesch, First Assistant Secretary, International Security Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia

“The SMP is one of the most thought-provoking and career-altering educational opportunities that I have attended. In four weeks, I was immersed in new strategic management and leadership abilities, and multi-stakeholder analysis – every dimension of being a senior manager.”
Mr. Ricky Lai, Chief Corruption Prevention Officer, Corruption Prevention Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption, Hong Kong
