Associate Director (Strategic Planning and Corporate Services)

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. Its centre for social indicators research, the IPS Social Lab, is seeking to hire an Associate Director (Strategic Planning and Corporate Services) who will provide leadership and strategic direction in the areas of long-term organisational planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, human resources and office management, This individual will report to the Head of the IPS Social Lab and will work closely with the Associate Director (Operations) to achieve the Social Lab’s mission and objectives.

The job scope includes:

  • Conducting strategic planning for the Social Lab, including preparing budget forecasts, negotiating and drafting research project contracts and developing survey panel engagement strategies
  • Building good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and reporting project updates and outcomes to them in a timely fashion
  • Packaging research findings for public consumption via media commentaries, other direct communication channels and social media
  • Working closely with a small team of staff to manage human resources, financial management,  procurement, vendor relationships, IT network administration, information systems and general facilities management for the Social Lab

Applicants must:

  • Have at least a Bachelors degree and at least five to eight years of working experience with supervisory duties, preferably in the public service or in Institutes of Higher Learning
  • Have a strong command of both written and spoken English and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Possess leadership, analytical and management skills, sound judgement and the ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in and understanding of social and policy issues in Singapore
  • Preferably have prior experience in public/government affairs and corporate communications
