Dr Aline Wong has been Academic Advisor of the SIM University since 2005, where she performs a consulting role in charting the strategic plan, supporting key thrusts, establishing linkages with reputable local and overseas institutions, and providing advice on curriculum plans, including course and programme development. 

Before accepting the role of Academic Advisor at SIM University, Dr Aline Wong assumed the position of Chairman of the HDB Board from 2003 to 2007, and as Professor and Senior Advisor to President’s Office in National University of Singapore from 2001 to 2003. 

Dr Aline Wong holds an Honorary Doctorate from Wheelock College, Boston, MA (2004), a PhD (1970) and Master (1964) in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from University of Hong Kong (1962). She pursued her academic career at the National University of Singapore (NUS) where she became a full Professor in 1990. 

In 1984, Dr Wong entered politics and was elected Member of Parliament at four successive General Elections. From 1990 to 1994, she was Minister of State for Health and Education, and became Senior Minister of State in 1995. She held that position until she stepped down from politics in 2001 and returned to NUS.

Dr Wong is also a Founding Member of the Singapore Women’s Initiative for Ageing Successfully (WINGS), and Vice-Patron for Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). She was a Director of Mediacorp Pte Ltd and the Singapore Symphonia Company, and the President of the International Women’s Forum (Singapore Chapter).
