Research Assistant/Associate (CAG)

Job Description

  • Preparing background briefs, presentations and tracking specific issues
  • Assisting a Senior Research Fellow in his/her research projects
  • Compiling and archiving research materials
  • Writing papers and reports of events
  • Managing book and research projects
  • Note-taking, copy-editing and proof-reading
  • Organizing academic and policy-related conferences/workshops
  • Undertaking administrative duties related to research projects such as managing correspondence and filing

Job Requirements

  • A Master degree and/or Ph.D. candidate in a discipline within the social sciences and/or humanities
  • Preferred areas of expertise or interests:
    • Asian politics and international relations
    • China’s relations with its neighbors, particularly China-Southeast Asia relations, China-India relations
    • Interest in resource and environmental issues in Asia
    • Applicants with other areas of interests will also be considered if relevant to CAG research focus
  • Good analytical ability and strong self-motivation
  • Able to work independently
  • An ability to engage with research and policy communities in Asia and around the world
  • A strong sense of collegiality
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Excellent command of Chinese language (native or Higher Chinese standard) preferred
  • Ability to use popular academic software (MS Office, Endnote etc.)
