LKY School of Public Policy celebrates its 1st Alumni Homecoming with a blast
It has been four years. For some it has been fifteen. On the 11th of July 2008, about forty-one Alumni across ten countries have gathered back at their alma mater to kick-off the start of the LKYSPP’s first- ever Alumni Homecoming. This was a three day event with activities ranging from an intellectually stimulating Ambassadors’ Panel Discussion, interactive talks by our LKYSPP faculty to a fun-filled tour around our Bukit Timah Campus.
Everyone caught up and updated old friends on their lives. In matter of minutes, the room was filled with laughter. Remarks like “You’ve never changed!”, “You’re still the same. I can’t believe it!” were common to the ear. Indeed, nothing has changed. Discussion sessions were filled with the same intensity and zest as before – the same passion for change a la the LKYSPP style.
“John had to take a ferry from his hometown to Manila to fly to Singapore,” Gloria Edullantes, MPP 2001, remarked with admiration of her classmate. Such cases were not atypical. Gloria herself and 17 other Alumni have flown from their countries to see the School and friends again. It was indeed heartwarming and admirable to see such fervent enthusiasm and love for the school.
It was definitely a great networking and catching session for all who attended, both past and present. LKY School of Public Policy will plan the next homecoming and aims to connect more past students together. Keep a look out for it! |
